Then Davidsaidto Ornan,"Giveme the siteof [this] threshingfloor,that I may buildon it an altarto the LORD;for the fullpriceyou shall giveit to me, that the plaguemay be restrainedfrom the people."
that he may giveme the caveof Machpelahwhichhe owns, whichis at the endof his field;for the fullpricelet him giveit to me in your presencefor a burialsite."
When they cameto the threshingfloorof Atad,whichis beyondthe Jordan,they lamentedtherewith a verygreatand sorrowfullamentation;and he observedsevendaysmourningfor his father.
Then Araunahsaid,"Whyhas my lordthe kingcometo his servant?"And Davidsaid,"To buythe threshingfloorfrom you, in order to buildan altarto the LORD,that the plaguemay be heldbackfrom the people."
Ahabspoketo Naboth,saying,"Giveme your vineyard,that I may haveit for a vegetablegardenbecauseit is closebesidemy house,and I will giveyou a bettervineyardthanit in its place;ifyou like,I will giveyou the priceof it in money."
As Davidcameto Ornan,Ornanlookedand sawDavid,and wentout from the threshingfloorand prostratedhimself before Davidwith his faceto the ground.
Ornansaidto David,"Take[it] for yourself; and let my lordthe kingdowhatis goodin his sight.See,I will givethe oxenfor burntofferingsand the threshingsledgesfor woodand the wheatfor the grain offering;I will give[it] all."
He tookhis standbetweenthe deadand the living,so that the plaguewas checked.
and he wentafterthe manof Israelinto the tentand piercedbothof them through,the manof Israeland the woman,throughthe body.So the plagueon the sonsof Israelwas checked.
