You've heard foreigners insult my people by saying, “The LORD chose Israel and Judah, but now he has rejected them, and they are no longer a nation.”

They say, “Now we'll catch you! God has deserted you, and no one can save you.”

They say, “Let's wipe out the nation of Israel and make sure that no one remembers its name!”

All of them fully agree in their plans against you, and among them are

You won't turn your back on your chosen nation.

Israel will stop being jealous of Judah, and Judah will no longer be the enemy of Israel.

But the LORD will make more trouble for your people and your kingdom than any of you have known since Israel broke away from Judah. He will even bring the king of Assyria to attack you.

I knew that the kingdom of Israel had been unfaithful and committed many sins, yet I still hoped she might come back to me. But she didn't, so I divorced her and sent her away. Her sister, the kingdom of Judah, saw what happened, but she wasn't worried in the least, and I watched her become unfaithful like her sister.

No one wants you as a friend or cares what happens to you. But I will heal your injuries, and you will get well.

I will never forget to give those commands, and I will never let Israel stop being a nation. I, the LORD, have spoken.

Can you measure the heavens? Can you explore the depths of the earth? That's how hard it would be for me to reject Israel for ever, even though they have sinned. I, the LORD, have spoken.

In the same way, I will never reject the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob or break my promise that they will always have a descendant of David as their king. I will be kind to my people Israel, and they will be successful again.

Everyone in Israel and Judah is guilty. But I, the LORD All-Powerful, their holy God, have not abandoned them.

Instead, everyone shouted, “Go away! Don't touch us! You're filthy and unfit to belong to God's people!” So they had to leave and become refugees. But foreign nations told them, “You can't stay here!”

and tell them: You celebrated when my temple was destroyed, when Israel was defeated, and when my people were taken away as prisoners.

Ezekiel, son of man, the people of the city of Tyre have celebrated Jerusalem's defeat by singing, “Jerusalem has fallen! It used to be powerful, a centre of trade. Now the city is shattered, and we will take its place.”

that I, the LORD God, am saying: Your enemies sneered and said that you mountains belonged to them.

Wherever they went, my name was disgraced, because foreigners insulted my people by saying I had forced them out of their own land.

The LORD said: Ezekiel, the people of Israel are like dead bones. They complain that they are dried up and that they have no hope for the future.

I will make them into one nation and let them once again live in the land of Israel. Only one king will rule them, and they will never again be divided into two nations.
