Abram answered: The LORD God Most High made the heavens and the earth. And I have promised him

Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and worshipped the eternal LORD God.

You are the living LORD! I will praise you! You are a mighty rock. I will honour you for keeping me safe.

Won't you keep me safe from those lying foreigners who can't tell the truth?

I will bring you into the land that I solemnly promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and it will be yours. I am the LORD!”

Make promises only in my name, and do what you promise! Then all nations will praise me, and I will bless them.

Keep these promises! But let me tell you what will happen. As surely as I am the LORD God, I swear that I will never again accept any promises you make in my name.

Tell them that long ago I, the LORD God, chose Israel to be my own. I appeared to their ancestors in Egypt and made a solemn promise that I would be their God and the God of their descendants.

I swore that I would rescue them from Egypt and lead them to a land I had already chosen. This land was rich with milk and honey and was the most splendid land of all.

From south to north, people will die,

knowing that my sword will never be put away.

The angel then raised both hands towards heaven and said, “In the name of the God who lives for ever, I solemnly promise that it will be a time, two times, and half a time. Everything will be over, when the suffering of God's holy people comes to an end.”

But as surely as I live and my power has no limit,

At the same time the twenty-four elders knelt down before the one sitting on the throne. And as they worshipped the one who lives for ever, they placed their crowns in front of the throne and said,

The living creatures kept praising, honouring, and thanking the one who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever.
