3 In the horror of a vision by night, when deep sleep is wont to hold men,


For David, when he changed his countenance before Achimelech, who dismissed him, and he went his way. [1 Kings 21.] I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall be always in my mouth.


They have not called upon God: there have they trembled for fear, where there was no fear. For God hath scattered the bones of them that please men: they have been confounded, because God hath despised them.


Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness: and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.


Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and shalt find the knowledge of God.


6 He that neglecteth a loss for the sake of a friend, is just: but the way of the wicked shall deceive them.


The light of the just giveth joy: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.


2 As the roaring of a lion, so also is the anger of a king: and his cheerfulness as the dew upon the grass.


5 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, and the rod of correction shall drive it away.


8 Better is wisdom, than weapons of war: and he that shall offend in one, shall lose many good things.


For before the harvest it was all flourishing, and it shall bud without perfect ripeness, and the sprigs thereof shall be cut off with pruning hooks: and what is left shall be cut away and shaken out.


And Ephraim said: But yet I am be- come rich, I have found me an idol: all my labours shall not find me the iniquity that I have committed.


0 And they shall eat and shall not be filled: they have committed fornication, and have not ceased: because they have forsaken the Lord in not observing his law.


6 For Israel hath gone astray like a wanton heifer: now will the Lord feed them, as a lamb in a spacious place.


1 And Ephraim is become as a dove that is decoyed, not having a heart: they called upon Egypt, they went to the Assyrians.


Rejoice not, O Israel: rejoice not as the nations do: for thou hast committed fornication against thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.


9 For who when he hath found his enemy, will let him go well away? But the Lord reward thee for this good turn, for what thou hast done to me this day.
