3 He shall spare the poor and needy: and he shall save the souls of the poor.


5 The soul which blesseth, shall be made fat: and he that inebriateth, shall be inebriated also himself.


Riches make many friends: but from the poor man, even they whom he had, depart.


When the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall stagger, and the grinders shall be idle in a small number, and they that look through the holes shall be darkened:


1 For at the voice of the Lord the Assyrian shall fear being struck with the rod.


And his strength shall pass away with dread, and his princes fleeing shall be afraid: the Lord hath said it, whose die is in Sion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.


The ways are made desolate, no one passeth by the road, the covenant is made void, he hath rejected the cities, he hath not regarded the men.


1 Behold, all the partakers thereof shall be confounded: for the makers are men: they shall all assemble together, they shall stand and fear, and shall be confounded together.


6 They are all confounded and ashamed: the forgers of errors are gone together into confusion.


And I said: I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength without cause and in vain: therefore my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God.


4 Therefore hath hell enlarged her soul, and opened her mouth without any bounds, and their strong ones, and their people, and their high and glorious ones shall go down into it.


Behold thou shalt call a nation, which thou knewest not: and the nations that knew not thee shall run to thee, because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel, for he hath glorified thee.


THUS saith the Lord : Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my justice to be revealed.


2 Your mother is confounded exceedingly, and she that bore you is made even with the dust: behold she shall be the last among the nations, a wilderness unpassable, and dry.


Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I come against thee, mount Seir, and I will stretch forth my hand upon thee, and I will make thee desolate and waste.


4 Ephraim hath provoked me to wrath with his bitterness, and his blood shall come upon him, and his Lord will render his reproach unto him.


Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know these things? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall in them.


1 And thou also, O Juda, set thee a harvest, when I shall bring back captivity of my people.


Rejoice not, O Israel: rejoice not as the nations do: for thou hast committed fornication against thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.


3 Take away from me the tumult of thy songs: and I will not hear the canticles of thy harp.


2 Because I know your manifold crimes, and your grievous sine: enemies of the just, taking bribes, and oppressing the poor in the gate.


4 Seek ye good, and not evil, that you may live: and the Lord the God of hosts will be with you, as you have said.


6 Therefore thus saith the Lord the God of hosts the sovereign Lord: In every street there shall be wailing: and in all places that are without, they shall say: Alas, alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to lament.


2 And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I am consummated.


6 For this my heart hath been glad, and any tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.


For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty to God unto the pulling down of fortifications, destroying counsels,


Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into sorrow.
