but knew her not until she gave birth to her Son, the first-born. And he called His Name יהושע.


Then Herodes, having seen that he was fooled by the Magi, was greatly enraged, and he sent forth and slew all the male children in Bĕyth Leḥem and in all its borders, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had exactly learnt from the Magi.


And Herodes having died, see, a messenger of יהוה appeared in a dream to Yosĕph in Mitsrayim,


And Herodes the sovereign, having heard, was troubled, and all Yerushalayim with him.


And they said to him, “In Bĕyth Leḥem of Yehuḏah, for thus it has been written by the prophet,


Then Herodes, having called the Magi secretly, learned exactly from them what time the star appeared.


There was in the days of Herodes, the sovereign of Yehuḏah, a certain priest named Zeḵaryah, of the division of Aḇiyah. And his wife was of the daughters of Aharon, and her name was Elisheḇa.


“Because there was born to you today in the city of Dawiḏ a Saviour, who is Messiah, the Master.


And it came to be, when the messengers had gone away from them into the heaven, that the shepherds said to each other, “Indeed, let us go to Bĕyth Leḥem and see this matter that has taken place, which the Master has made known to us.”


“Did not the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from the seed of Dawiḏ and from the village of Bĕyth Leḥem, where Dawiḏ was?”


And there was a young man from Bĕyth Leḥem in Yehuḏah, of the clan of Yehuḏah. And he was a Lĕwite, and he was sojourning there.
