But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against Him, so as to destroy Him.
Then there came to יהושע scribes and Pharisees from Yerushalayim, saying,
And יהושע said to them, “Mind! And beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”
And the Pharisees came to Him, trying Him, and saying to Him, “Is it right for a man to put away his wife for every reason?”
But knowing their wickedness, יהושע said, “Why do you try Me, you hypocrites?
On that day Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,
On the next day, which was after the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate,
For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall by no means enter into the reign of the heavens.
And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His taught ones, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
And Pharisees came and asked Him, “Is it right for a man to put away his wife?” – trying Him.
Should we pay, or should we not pay? And He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, “Why do you try Me? Bring Me a denarius to look at.”
And Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him. And they asked Him, saying,
And see, a certain one learned in the Torah stood up, trying Him, and saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit everlasting life?”
And some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,
And this they said, trying Him, so that they might accuse Him. But יהושע, bending down, wrote on the ground with the finger, as though He did not hear.
And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the Set-apart Place, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
But the high priest rose up, and all those with him, which is the sect of the Sadducees, and they were filled with jealousy,
