“Prepare war against her; up, and let us attack at noon!” “Woe to us, for the day declines, for the shadows of evening lengthen!”


Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; they have not exposed your iniquity to restore your fortunes, but have seen for you oracles false and misleading.


My hand will be against the prophets who see delusive visions and who give lying divinations; they shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel; and you shall know that I am the Lord God.


You shall stumble by day, the prophet also shall stumble with you by night; and I will destroy your mother.


Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare war, stir up the mighty men. Let all the men of war draw near, let them come up.


If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people!


Its heads give judgment for a bribe, its priests teach for hire, its prophets divine for money; yet they lean upon the Lord and say, “Is not the Lord in the midst of us? No evil shall come upon us.”


But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts,


Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”


“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.


For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by fair and flattering words they deceive the hearts of the simple-minded.
