All this Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed he said nothing to them without a parable.


And when he was alone, those who were about him with the twelve asked him concerning the parables.


With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it;


And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.


This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.


“I have said this to you in figures; the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures but tell you plainly of the Father.


When they had appointed a day for him, they came to him at his lodging in great numbers. And he expounded the matter to them from morning till evening, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.
