For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
and said, “Sir, we remember how that imposter said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise again.’
He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
And he said to them, “Do not be amazed; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen, he is not here; see the place where they laid him.
And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
and as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?
saying, “The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
“Let these words sink into your ears; for the Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men.”
But God raised him up, having loosed the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
