I have heard Ephraim bemoaning, ‘Thou hast chastened me, and I was chastened, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for thou art the Lord my God.


And if any survivors escape, they will be on the mountains, like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one over his iniquity.

And immediately the cock crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, “Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.


And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the cock crows today, you will deny me three times.”


Now the men who were holding Jesus mocked him and beat him;


Therefore let any one who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
