For the Lord had said of them, “They shall die in the wilderness.” There was not left a man of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.


Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”


This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever.”
