And Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, “You have trespassed and married foreign women, and so increased the guilt of Israel.
saying: “O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift my face to thee, my God, for our iniquities have risen higher than our heads, and our guilt has mounted up to the heavens.
And if I lift myself up, thou dost hunt me like a lion, and again work wonders against me;
Thou makest darkness, and it is night, when all the beasts of the forest creep forth.
