Then he said, “Let me go, for the day is breaking.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go, unless you bless me.”


Then he said, “Your name shall no more be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.”


And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; no longer shall your name be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.” So his name was called Israel.


Then the mother of the child said, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So he arose and followed her.


Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that thou wouldst bless me and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldst keep me from harm so that it might not hurt me!” And God granted what he asked.


The Lord answer you in the day of trouble! The name of the God of Jacob protect you!
