Your friend, and your father's friend, do not forsake; and do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away.
He who gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse.
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.

For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned?
And if he is not near you, or if you do not know him, you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall be with you until your brother seeks it; then you shall restore it to him.
For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
