“You shall not permit a sorceress to live.


And when they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the wizards who chirp and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?


“You shall not eat any flesh with the blood in it. You shall not practice augury or witchcraft.


“Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.


“A man or a woman who is a medium or a wizard shall be put to death; they shall be stoned with stones, their blood shall be upon them.”


“If a person turns to mediums and wizards, playing the harlot after them, I will set my face against that person, and will cut him off from among his people.


As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by soothsaying.


So Saul disguised himself and put on other garments, and went, he and two men with him; and they came to the woman by night. And he said, “Divine for me by a spirit, and bring up for me whomever I shall name to you.”
