Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and his mate; and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and his mate;


who sit in tombs, and spend the night in secret places; who eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;


Then I said, “Ah Lord God! behold, I have never defiled myself; from my youth up till now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has foul flesh come into my mouth.”


“Say to the people of Israel, These are the living things which you may eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.


You shall not make yourselves abominable with any swarming thing that swarms; and you shall not defile yourselves with them, lest you become unclean.


You shall therefore make a distinction between the clean beast and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean; you shall not make yourselves abominable by beast or by bird or by anything with which the ground teems, which I have set apart for you to hold unclean.


I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but it is unclean for any one who thinks it unclean.


(But if some one says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then out of consideration for the man who informed you, and for conscience' sake—


To the pure all things are pure, but to the corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are corrupted.
