Joab said, “I will not waste time like this with you.” And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them into the heart of Absalom, while he was still alive in the oak.
Then Joab blew the trumpet, and the troops came back from pursuing Israel; for Joab restrained them.
And King David sent this message to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, “Say to the elders of Judah, ‘Why should you be the last to bring the king back to his house, when the word of all Israel has come to the king?
that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment?
I have seen a wicked man overbearing, and towering like a cedar of Lebanon.
An evil man seeks only rebellion, and a cruel messenger will be sent against him.
