And they did not ask an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to pay out to the workmen, for they dealt honestly.
From spoil won in battles they dedicated gifts for the maintenance of the house of the Lord.
They delivered it to the workmen who had the oversight of the house of the Lord; and the workmen who were working in the house of the Lord gave it for repairing and restoring the house.
This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it.
