You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?


What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?


I write this while I am away from you, in order that when I come I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority which the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.


I warned those who sinned before and all the others, and I warn them now while absent, as I did when present on my second visit, that if I come again I will not spare them—


For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.


And his heart goes out all the more to you, as he remembers the obedience of you all, and the fear and trembling with which you received him.


among them Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.


So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, prating against me with evil words. And not content with that, he refuses himself to welcome the brethren, and also stops those who want to welcome them and puts them out of the church.
