And to Abiathar the priest the king said, “Go to Anathoth, to your estate; for you deserve death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the ark of the Lord God before David my father, and because you shared in all the affliction of my father.”


And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet stuff, and of fine twined linen, skilfully worked.


And Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring hither the ark of God.” For the ark of God went at that time with the people of Israel.


and Ahijah the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, son of Phinehas, son of Eli, the priest of the Lord in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And the people did not know that Jonathan had gone.


But one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.


Therefore David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines and save Keilah.”


And David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and made a great slaughter among them. So David delivered the inhabitants of Keilah.


Now it was told Saul that David had come to Keilah. And Saul said, “God has given him into my hand; for he has shut himself in by entering a town that has gates and bars.”


David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”


And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.
