With regard to the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.


For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams which they dream,


the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule at their direction; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes?


If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people!


The master commended the dishonest steward for his shrewdness; for the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.


I have given them thy word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
