Far from me hide not thou thy face; put not away from thee Thy servant in thy wrath: thou hast an helper been to me. O God of my salvation, leave me not, nor forsake:


O Lord, thou hast my mountain made to stand strong by thy love: But when that thou, O gracious God, didst hide thy face from me, Then quickly was my prosp'rous state turn'd into misery.


O wherefore hidest thou thy face? forgett'st our cause distress'd,


And our oppression? For our soul is to the dust down press'd: Our belly also on the earth fast cleaving, hold doth take.


God is our refuge and our strength, in straits a present aid;


Why, Lord, dost thou cast off my soul, and hid'st thy face from me?
