But he stands alone, and who can dissuade him? What he desires, that he does.
The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.
For the Lord of hosts has planned, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?
For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, have not perished.
Come now, curse this people for me, since they are stronger than I; perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them from the land, for I know that whomever you bless is blessed, and whomever you curse is cursed.”
So Balak said to him, “Come with me to another place from which you may see them; you shall see only part of them and shall not see them all; then curse them for me from there.”
But Balaam answered Balak, “Did I not speak to you, saying, ‘Whatever the Lord says, that is what I must do’?”
