When his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken place.
Should you not have had mercy on your fellow slave, as I had mercy on you?’
But his master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy slave! You knew, did you, that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter?
He said to him, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you wicked slave! You knew, did you, that I was a harsh man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow?
Now we know that, whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world may be held accountable to God.
For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
