Later he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were sitting at the table, and he upbraided them for their lack of faith and stubbornness, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.


He said to them, “So, are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile,


But turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.”


So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what this rising from the dead could mean.


But they understood nothing about all these things; in fact, what he said was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.


But they did not understand what he said to them.


Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures,


But they did not understand this saying; its meaning remained concealed from them, so that they could not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.


His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written of him and had been done to him.


Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, “Are you discussing among yourselves what I meant when I said, ‘A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’?


Just then his disciples came. They were astonished that he was speaking with a woman, but no one said, “What do you want?” or, “Why are you speaking with her?”
