Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables; without a parable he told them nothing.


When he was alone, those who were around him along with the twelve asked him about the parables.


With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were able to hear it;


Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures.


Jesus used this figure of speech with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.


“I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures but will tell you plainly of the Father.


After they had set a day to meet with him, they came to him at his lodgings in great numbers. From morning until evening he explained the matter to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.
