So Jesus called them and said to them, “You know that among the gentiles those whom they recognize as their rulers lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them.
A dispute also arose among them as to which one of them was to be regarded as the greatest.
But he said to them, “The kings of the gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors.
love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.
Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.
Or do you suppose that the scripture speaks to no purpose? Does the spirit that God caused to dwell in us desire envy?
