May the creditor seize all that he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his toil.
Your country lies desolate; your cities are burned with fire; in your very presence aliens devour your land; it is desolate, as overthrown by foreigners.
Then the lambs shall graze as in their pasture; fatted calves and kids shall feed among the ruins.
Your holy people took possession for a little while, but now our adversaries have trampled down your sanctuary.
By your own act you shall lose the heritage that I gave you, and I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled that shall burn forever.
Their houses shall be turned over to others, their fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand against the inhabitants of the land, says the Lord.
I will hand it over to strangers as plunder, to the wicked of the earth as spoil; they shall profane it.
I will bring the worst of the nations to take possession of their houses. I will put an end to the arrogance of the strong, and their holy places shall be profaned.
For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads; it shall yield no meal; if it were to yield, foreigners would devour it.
Israel is swallowed up; now they are among the nations as a useless vessel.
Their wealth shall be plundered and their houses laid waste. Though they build houses, they shall not inhabit them; though they plant vineyards, they shall not drink wine from them.
