He called that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.


When David came to the summit, where God was worshiped, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn and earth on his head.


So Hushai, David’s friend, came into the city just as Absalom was entering Jerusalem.


When Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, came to Absalom, Hushai said to Absalom, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”


Ahithophel was the king’s counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.


Their possessions and settlements were Bethel and its towns, and eastward Naaran, and westward Gezer and its towns, Shechem and its towns, as far as Ayyah and its towns;


From there the boundary passes along southward in the direction of Luz, to the slope of Luz (that is, Bethel), then the boundary goes down to Ataroth-addar, on the mountain that lies south of Lower Beth-horon.
