At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants;


Pilate then called together the chief priests, the leaders, and the people


Nevertheless many, even of the authorities, believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue,


Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews.


And here he is, speaking openly, but they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Messiah?


But this crowd, which does not know the law, they are accursed.”


Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus before and who was one of them, asked,


The word of God continued to spread; the number of the disciples increased greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.


Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?


and which none of the rulers of this age understood, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
