At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me as though I were a rebel? Day after day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not arrest me.


At that time they had a notorious prisoner called Jesus Barabbas.


So he released Barabbas for them, and after flogging Jesus he handed him over to be crucified.


So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas for them, and after flogging Jesus he handed him over to be crucified.


Now a man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder during the insurrection.


He released the man they asked for, the one who had been put in prison for insurrection and murder, and he handed Jesus over as they wished.
