But Jehoahaz entreated the Lord, and the Lord heeded him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Aram oppressed them.
Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory and that your hand might be with me and that you would keep me from hurt and harm!” And God granted what he asked.
He prayed to him, and God received his entreaty, heard his plea, and restored him again to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord indeed was God.
“If you direct your heart rightly, you will stretch out your hands toward him.
Will they take delight in the Almighty? Will they call upon God at all times?
then he prays to God and is accepted by him; he comes into his presence with joy, and God repays him for his righteousness.
so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him, and he heard the cry of the afflicted—
if you are pure and upright, surely then he will rouse himself for you and restore to you your rightful place.
My vows to you I must perform, O God; I will render thank offerings to you.
For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.

But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Deliverance belongs to the Lord!”
“If you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not postpone fulfilling it, for the Lord your God will surely require it of you, and you would incur guilt.
