For deep darkness is morning to all of them; for they are friends with the terrors of deep darkness.
The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.
Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye wastes away from grief, my soul and body also.
While I kept silent, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long.
I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God.
Just as there were many who were astonished at him —so marred was his appearance, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of mortals—
For these things I weep; my eyes flow with tears; for a comforter is far from me, one to revive my courage; my children are desolate, for the enemy has prevailed.
