Then David said to Gad, “I am in great distress; let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercy is great, but let me not fall into human hands.”
Elijah said, “As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.”
So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
He replied, “Do not be afraid, for there are more with us than there are with them.”
Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, says the Lord, to deliver you.”
Now Shephatiah son of Mattan, Gedaliah son of Pashhur, Jucal son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur son of Malchiah heard the words that Jeremiah was saying to all the people:
“My lord king, these men have acted wickedly in all they did to the prophet Jeremiah by throwing him into the cistern to die there of hunger, for there is no bread left in the city.”
Then the king gave the command, and Daniel was brought and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you faithfully serve, deliver you!”
And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.’
