Today I am eighty years old; can I discern what is pleasant and what is not? Can your servant taste what he eats or what he drinks? Can I still listen to the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?
because they turned aside from following him and had no regard for any of his ways,
Because they do not regard the works of the Lord or the work of his hands, he will break them down and build them up no more.

The mirth of the timbrels is stilled; the noise of the jubilant has ceased; the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
