How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?


My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning?


I had said in my alarm, “I am driven far from your sight.” But you heard my supplications when I cried out to you for help.


Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God”?


Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on his suffering ones.


Can a woman forget her nursing child or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these might forget, yet I will not forget you.


For the Lord has called you like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, like the wife of a man’s youth when she is cast off, says your God.

Why have you forgotten us completely? Why have you forsaken us these many days?
