Rise up, O God, plead your cause; remember how the impious scoff at you all day long.


God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:


Come now, let us argue it out, says the Lord: If your sins are like scarlet, will they become like snow? If they are red like crimson, will they become like wool?


Thus says your Sovereign, the Lord, your God who pleads the cause of his people: See, I have taken from your hand the cup of staggering; you shall drink no more from the cup of my wrath.


For by fire will the Lord execute judgment, and by his sword on all flesh; and those slain by the Lord shall be many.


Let the nations rouse themselves and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the neighboring nations.

Hear, you mountains, the case of the Lord, and you enduring foundations of the earth, for the Lord has a case against his people, and he will contend with Israel.
