But then the king asked her, “What is your complaint?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give up your son; we will eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’

Can a woman forget her nursing child or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these might forget, yet I will not forget you.
The hands of compassionate women have boiled their own children; they became their food in the destruction of my people.
In the desperate straits to which the enemy siege reduces you, you will eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your own sons and daughters whom the Lord your God has given you.
