So Edom has been in revolt against the rule of Judah to this day. Libnah also revolted at the same time.


In his days Edom revolted against the rule of Judah and set up a king of their own.


Our fathers have fallen by the sword and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.


Thus says the Lord God: Because Edom acted revengefully against the house of Judah and has grievously offended in taking vengeance upon them,


And if in spite of this you will not obey me, I will continue to punish you sevenfold for your sins.


Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and cast off all pity; he maintained his anger perpetually and kept his wrath forever.


For the slaughter and violence done to your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off forever.
