Indeed, this is our boast, the testimony of our conscience: we have behaved in the world with holiness and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God—and all the more toward you.

Without any doubt, the mystery of godliness is great: He was revealed in flesh, vindicated in spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among gentiles, believed in throughout the world, taken up in glory.


Have nothing to do with profane and foolish tales. Train yourself in godliness,


But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.


Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the profane chatter and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge;


Remind them of this, and warn them before the Lord that they are to avoid wrangling over words, which does no good but only ruins those who are listening.


Shun youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.


Have nothing to do with stupid and senseless controversies; you know that they breed quarrels.


and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths.


Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and the knowledge of the truth that is in accordance with godliness,


not paying attention to Jewish myths or to commandments of those who reject the truth.


But avoid stupid controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.


Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by regulations about food, which have not benefited those who observe them.


For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty.
