And Heshbon shall cry, and Ele-a´leh; their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his life shall be grievous unto him.
and judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jaha´zah, and upon Meph´a-ath,
From the cry of Heshbon even unto Ele-a´leh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zo´ar even unto Horona´im, as a heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.
And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kede´moth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Ba´moth–ba´al, and Beth–ba´al–me´on,
But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
