Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of E´phra-im, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!


Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.


And all the people shall know, even E´phra-im and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,


then spake Azari´ah the son of Hoshai´ah, and Jo´hanan the son of Kare´ah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the Lord our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:


But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the Lord of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.


Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
