Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were assembled into the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
As it is written in the Prophets: "Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You."
So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.
He said: "I am 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Make straight the way of the LORD,"' just as Isaiah the prophet said."
as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of high priestly descent.
