For the enemy has pursued my being; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in dark places, Like the dead of old.


I have been forgotten like someone dead from the heart; I have been like a missing vessel.


Released among the dead, Like slain ones lying in the burial-site, Whom You have remembered no more, And who have been cut off from Your hand.


For there is no more lasting remembrance of the wise than of the fool, since in the days to come all is forgotten. And how does a wise man die? With the fool!
