In יהוה I have taken refuge; Why do you say to me, “Flee to your mountain like a bird”?


The fool has said in his heart, “There is no יהוה.” They have done corruptly, They have done an abominable deed, There is no one who does good.


He has not put out his silver at interest, And has not taken a bribe against the innocent. He who does these is never moved.


As for me, I have said in my ease, “Never would I be shaken!”


Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is filled in them to do evil.


“And you said, ‘I am mistress forever,’ so that you did not take these matters to heart, and did not remember the latter end of them.


“Come, let me bring wine and fill ourselves with strong drink. And tomorrow shall be as today, even much greater.”


Though they are as entangled thorns, and as drunkards with their drink, they shall be consumed like stubble thoroughly dried.


“But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’


For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then suddenly destruction comes upon them, as labour pains upon a pregnant woman, and they shall not escape.


“As much as she esteemed herself and lived riotously, so much torture and grief give to her, because in her heart she says, ‘I sit as sovereigness, and I am not a widow, and I do not see mourning at all.’
