And when Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but rather an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this Righteous One. You shall see to it.”


And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they were slaughtering the Pĕsah lamb, His taught ones said to Him, “Where do You wish us to go and prepare, for You to eat the Pĕsaḥ?”


And they said, “Not at the festival, lest there shall be an uproar of the people.”


And יהושע said to them, “All of you shall stumble in Me this night, for it has been written, ‘I shall strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.’


But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people shall stone us, for they are persuaded that Yoḥanan was a prophet.


And the Day of Unleavened Bread came when the Pĕsaḥ had to be slaughtered.


Then they led יהושע from Qayapha to the palace, and it was early. And they themselves did not go into the palace, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Pĕsaḥ.


And the entire city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one mind into the theatre, having seized Gaios and Aristarchos, Makedonians, Sha’ul’s fellow travellers.


“Are you not the Mitsrian who some time ago stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand assassins out into the wilderness?
