2 And he said, “I called to יהוה because of my distress, and He answered me. From the stomach of She’ol I cried, and You heard my voice.

And when he was in distress, he sought the face of יהוה his Elohim, and humbled himself greatly before the Elohim of his fathers,


The cords of death were around me, And the pains of She’ol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow.


In my distress I cried to יהוה, And He answered me.


For You do not leave my being in She’ol, Neither let Your Lovingly-committed One see corruption.


For He has not despised Nor hated the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard.


Zayin This poor one cried out and יהוה heard him, And saved him out of all his distresses.


Answer me when I call, O Elohim of my righteousness! You gave relief to me when I was in distress; Show favour to me, and hear my prayer.


From the end of the earth I call unto You, When my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.


To You who hears all prayer, all flesh comes.


For Your loving-commitment is great toward me, And You have delivered my being From the depths of She’ol.


“She’ol from beneath is excited about you, to meet you at your coming; it stirs up the dead for you, all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the sovereigns of the nations.


I called on Your Name, O יהוה, from the lowest pit.


then I shall bring you down with those who go down into the pit, to the people of old. And I shall make you dwell in the lowest part of the earth, in wastes of old, with those who go to the pit, so that you do not return. But I shall establish splendour in the land of the living.


so that none of the trees by the waters would exalt themselves because of their height, nor set their tops among the thick foliage, and that no tree which drinks water would ever be high enough to reach up to them. ‘For all of them shall be given up to death, to the depths of the earth, among the children of men who go down to the pit.’


“For as Yonah was three days and three nights in the stomach of the great fish, so shall the Son of Aḏam be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.


“For everyone asking receives, and he who is seeking finds, and to him who is knocking it shall be opened.


And being in agony, He was praying more earnestly. And His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.


because You shall not leave my being in She’ol, nor shall You give Your Lovingly-committed One to see corruption.


who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His reverent fear,


“Do not take your female servant for a daughter of Beliya‛al, for it is out of my great concern and provocation that I have spoken until now.”


And Dawiḏ was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the being of all the people was grieved, each for his sons and his daughters. But Dawiḏ strengthened himself in יהוה his Elohim.
