Genesis 24:14 - The Scriptures 2009

14 “Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, ‘Please let down your jar to let me drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and let me water your camels too,’ let her be the one whom You have appointed for Your servant Yitsḥaq. And let me know by this that You have shown loving-commitment to my master.”

“See, I am standing here by the fountain of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.


And it came to be, before he had ended speaking, that see, Riḇqah, who was born to Bethu’ĕl, son of Milkah, the wife of Naḥor, Aḇraham’s brother, came out with her jar on her shoulder.


And she said, “Drink, my master.” And she hurried and let her jar down to her hand, and gave him a drink.


And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “Let me draw water for your camels too, until they have finished drinking.”


see, I am standing by the fountain of water, and when the young woman comes out to draw water, and I say to her, “Please give me a little water from your jar to drink,”


and she says to me, “Drink, and let me draw for your camels too,” let her be the woman whom יהוה has appointed for my master’s son.’


And Yo’aḇ said to Amasa, “Peace, my brother?” And Yo’aḇ took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.


“And it shall be, when you hear the sound of stepping in the tops of the mulberry trees, then act promptly, for then יהוה shall go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”


Houses and riches are the inheritance from fathers, But an understanding wife is from יהוה.


“Ask a sign for yourself from יהוה your Elohim; make deep the request or make it high.”


always asking in my prayers, if at all possible, I shall be blessed by the desire of Elohim, to come to you.


And they said to him, “Please inquire of Elohim, and we shall know whether the journey on which we are going is prosperous.”


And he said to Him, “Please, if I have found favour in Your eyes, then show me a sign that it is You who are speaking with me.


see, I am placing a fleece of wool on the threshing-floor. If there is dew only on the fleece, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that You are saving Yisra’ĕl by my hand, as You have said.”


“If he says thus, ‘It is well,’ your servant is safe. But if he is very displeased, then know that he has resolved to do evil.
