1 And in the assembly that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: both Barnaḇa and Shim‛on who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaḥĕm who had been brought up with Herodes the district ruler, and Sha’ul.

And as they were going out, they found a man of Cyrene, Shim‛on by name – they compelled him to bear His stake.


And in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Yehuḏah, and Herodes district ruler of Galil, and his brother Philip district ruler of Yetur and the country of Trachonitis, and Lusanias district ruler of Aḇilene,


This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnaḇa and Sha’ul.


And Barnaḇa and Sha’ul returned from Yerushalayim, having completed the service, and having taken with them Yoḥanan who was also called Marqos.


Then Sha’ul, who also is Paul – filled with the Set-apart Spirit, looked intently at him,


And Yehuḏah and Silas, being themselves also prophets, encouraged the brothers with many words and strengthened them.


And Sha’ul and Barnaḇa continued in Antioch, teaching and bringing, with many others also, the Good News: the Word of יהוה!


And when Sha’ul had laid hands on them, the Set-apart Spirit came upon them, and they were speaking in tongues and prophesying.


Now this one had four maiden daughters who prophesied.


And Yosĕph, who was also called Barnaḇa by the emissaries (which means Son of Encouragement), a Lĕwite, a native of Cyprus,


But Sha’ul, still breathing threats and murder against the taught ones of the Master, having come to the high priest,


Timotiyos, my fellow worker, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my relatives, greet you.


Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, brings shame to his Head.


And if I have prophecy, and know all secrets and all knowledge, and if I have all belief, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am none at all.


Love never fails. And whether there be prophecies, they shall be inactive; or tongues, they shall cease; or knowledge, it shall be inactive.


And let two or three prophets speak, and let the others discern.


And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.


Or do only Barnaḇa and I have no right to refrain from working?


And the rest of the Yehuḏim joined him in hypocrisy, so that even Barnaḇa was led away by their hypocrisy.


So when Ya‛aqoḇ, Kĕpha, and Yoḥanan, who seemed to be supports, came to know the favour that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnaḇa the right hand of fellowship, in order that we go to the nations and they to the circumcised,


And He Himself gave some as emissaries, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as shepherds and teachers


All the set-apart ones greet you, but most of all those of Caesar’s household.
